Everything you need to know about collecting, trading, and completing card sets in Coin Master — including how to get rare cards, Gold Cards, Joker Cards, and earn thousands of free spins from completed sets.
Most Coin Master players focus entirely on spins and villages — but completing card sets is one of the most powerful progression systems in the game. A single completed card set can reward you with thousands of free spins, massive coin bonuses, and even unlock new pets like Tiger and Rhino.
The challenge is that every set contains at least one rare or gold card that you simply cannot get from normal gameplay luck alone. You need a smart trading strategy, the right chest buying habits, and knowledge of when and how to trade — especially for Gold Cards which can only be traded during special events.
This guide covers everything: card rarity, chest types, how to trade, how to get Gold Cards, Joker Cards, and the pro tips that experienced players use to complete sets far faster than beginners.
💡 Key Insight: The spin rewards from completing card sets can easily dwarf everything you earn from daily links combined. Prioritizing card collection is one of the highest-return investments in Coin Master.
Every card in Coin Master has a star rating from 1 to 5 that determines how rare it is. Higher-star cards are harder to find, but reward more spins when the set is completed. Gold Cards are a special category above 5-star cards.
Most common cards. Found frequently in all chest types. Easy to get duplicates of.
Slightly harder to find. Still obtainable from Wooden Chests with some patience.
Noticeably harder to find. Best obtained from Golden or Magical Chests at Boom Villages.
Very rare. Requires Magical Chests and/or trading. Often the bottleneck in completing sets.
Extremely rare. Usually needs Magical Chests at Boom Villages during Card Boom event, or trading.
The rarest cards in the game. Identified by their yellow glow. Can only be traded during special Gold Card Trade events.
The primary way to get cards. Every chest contains a random selection of cards based on your current village level. Higher-tier chests (Golden, Magical) give more cards and better chances at rare ones. See the Chest Guide below for a full breakdown.
Occasionally, landing on a raid or attack in the slot machine rewards you with a chest in addition to coins. These chests contain cards that get added to your collection automatically.
Every time you fully build and complete a village, you receive a free chest as a reward. The chest tier improves as you reach higher village levels, giving better card drops the further you progress.
If you have duplicate cards, you can send them to Facebook friends who need them — and request cards you're missing in return. This is the fastest way to complete the lower-star portion of your sets. See How to Trade below.
If you're in a Coin Master Team, you can request one card per day from your team members. Go to the Team menu → tap the card request button → choose which card you need. Team members can then donate a duplicate copy to you. This is a great way to plug gaps in your sets without relying on chest luck.
Many Coin Master events (Card Boom, Viking Quest, tournament rewards) give chests or direct card rewards as prizes. Topping a tournament leaderboard can reward Joker Cards — the most powerful card-getting tool in the game (see Joker Cards).
The cheapest chest. Best for completing low-star (1–2 star) card sets. Not ideal for rare card hunting.
A solid mid-tier option. Better rare card drop rates than Wooden. Great value for mid-game players hunting 3-star cards.
The premium chest. Highest rare and gold card drop rates. Essential for completing 4–5 star sets and hunting Gold Cards.
At a Boom Village, start with 20 Wooden Chests to fill in common cards, then move to 20 Golden Chests, and finally spend remaining coins on Magical Chests for the rare and gold card hunting. This tiered approach avoids wasting expensive Magical Chest coins on cards that cheaper chests can provide.
⏰ Best Time to Open Chests: Always wait for the Card Boom event if possible. During Card Boom, every chest contains 50% more cards — meaning you get significantly more chances at rare cards for the same coin cost. Save your chest-opening sessions for this event.
Trading regular (non-gold) cards with friends is straightforward and can be done any time. You can only send a card if you have more than one copy of it — you can't send your last copy.
Tap the Card icon at the bottom left corner of the main game screen to open your card collections.
Browse through your sets and find a card where you have 2 or more copies. Duplicate cards will show a number badge indicating how many you own.
Tap on the card you want to trade, then tap the Send button that appears. This opens your friends list.
Select the friend you want to send the card to. They will receive it immediately in their collection. Note: You need a Facebook-connected account to trade with friends.
After sending, message your friend (via Facebook or in-game) to send you a card you're missing in return. Good trading is always a fair exchange — one card for one card of equal rarity.
⚠️ Trading Safety: Never send a rare (3-star+) card first to someone you don't personally know. Scammers will take your card and not send one back. Only trade rare cards with trusted friends, or use a community "Verified Trader" in Facebook groups as a middleman.
Gold Cards are the rarest cards in Coin Master — identified by their bright yellow glow. They belong to the same card sets as regular cards but are a special rare variant of those cards. Completing a card set that contains Gold Cards gives significantly better rewards than regular sets.
When you tap a Gold Card in your collection, you'll see the message: "This card is golden. It can't be sent to friends." This is because Gold Cards have special trading rules.
Gold Cards can only be traded during special Gold Card Trade events. You cannot send them to friends outside of these events. When a Gold Card Trade event is active, a notification appears in the game and the trade interface becomes available.
Each Gold Card Trade event allows two specific Gold Cards to be traded during that window. You can either offer a Gold Card you have (that someone else needs) or request one you're missing. Post your offer or request on the official Coin Master Trading Group on Facebook to find trading partners quickly.
There are several ways to obtain Gold Cards:
🌟 Gold Card Strategy: Don't rush through Boom Villages. When you reach a confirmed Boom Village (check our Village List), open as many Magical Chests as you can afford. The improved Gold Card drop rate at Boom Villages is your best opportunity outside of trade events.
A Joker Card is a wildcard that lets you choose any single missing card and instantly add it to your collection — including rare, epic, and legendary cards. It is the single most valuable card-collection tool in the game.
Never waste a Joker Card on a card you could reasonably get from chests or trading. Save Joker Cards for the hardest-to-find cards — specifically 4 or 5-star legendaries that are blocking you from completing a high-reward set. Using a Joker Card to complete a set that rewards thousands of spins gives you enormous value.
♟️ Joker Card Rule: Before using a Joker Card, ask yourself — can I get this card by trading or from a chest within the next week? If yes, wait. If the card is a rare Gold variant or an ultra-rare legendary with no trade event upcoming, use the Joker Card.
Coin Master has a built-in system to convert your duplicate cards into chests. Instead of hoarding useless duplicates, you can exchange them for Wooden, Golden, or Magical Chests that give you new cards, spins, coins, and Pet XP.
💡 Best Time: Do your Cards for Chests exchange during the Card Boom event — the chests you receive contain 50% more cards, maximising the return on your duplicates.
The rewards for completing a card set scale with the average star rating of the cards in that set. The higher the rarity, the bigger the reward. Here's a general breakdown of what to expect:
| Set Type | Approx. Spin Reward | Other Rewards | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–2 ⭐ Common Set | 200–500 spins | Coins, Pet XP | Easy to complete early game |
| 3 ⭐ Rare Set | 500–1,500 spins | Coins, Pet XP | Requires trading for rare cards |
| 4 ⭐ Epic Set | 1,500–3,000 spins | Coins, Pet XP | Magical Chests + trading needed |
| 5 ⭐ Legendary Set | 3,000–10,000 spins | Coins, Pet XP | Very high value — prioritize these |
| Gold Card Set | 10,000–50,000+ spins | Coins, Pet XP, Pets | Best rewards in the game |
| Pet Unlock Set (Beasts/Creatures) | Unlocks Tiger / Rhino | Pet egg + spins | Complete these as early as possible |
🎰 Big Picture: A serious Coin Master player who completes multiple high-star card sets can earn tens of thousands of free spins purely from set rewards — far more than any daily link program. Card collection is not a side activity; it's a core progression system.
Boom Villages are specific village levels where the game's rare and gold card drop rate from chests is significantly higher than normal villages. When you reach a Boom Village, it's the best possible time to open chests and hunt for the rare cards blocking your set completions.
Some Boom Villages are also Big Boom Villages — these have even higher drop rates and are the most valuable card-hunting stops in the game. Check our full Village List to see all confirmed Boom and Big Boom Village levels marked with 💥 and ⚡.
When you arrive at a Boom Village, follow this chest-buying order:
🏆 Stack Events: If a Card Boom event happens while you're at a Boom Village, this is the single best combination in the game for card hunting. Open as many Magical Chests as you can — the increased village drop rate AND the Card Boom bonus stack together.
Every chest you open gives 50% more cards. This is the single best event for chest opening. Save your coins and open chests only during Card Boom whenever possible.
The only time you can trade Gold Cards with friends. Two specific Gold Cards become tradeable per event. Post in Facebook groups to find trade partners before the event window closes.
Completing Viking Quest stages can reward Gold Cards and Joker Cards. Always participate — it's one of the few ways to get Gold Cards outside of chest luck and trade events.
Limited-time card sets appear during seasonal events (Christmas, Halloween, etc.). These sets have separate Albums — completing them unlocks massive bonus rewards including 50,000+ spins. Never miss a seasonal event.
Always trade with friends you know personally, or use a community-verified middleman in Facebook trading groups. Send your card only after confirming the other person has what you need.
Search "Coin Master Card Trading" on Facebook. These large communities have thousands of players exchanging duplicates daily — your fastest route to completing stubborn sets.
If you're not at a Boom Village and Card Boom isn't active, wait. The difference in card output is massive — 50% more cards per chest is too good to miss by being impatient.
The Beasts set (unlocks Tiger) and Creatures set (unlocks Rhino) should be your first priority as a new player. Both pets give enormous gameplay advantages worth more than any individual card reward.
You get one free card request per day from your team. Never skip this. Over a month, that's 30 free cards — often exactly the ones you're missing to complete a set.
Joker Cards are rare. Only spend them when a 5-star legendary card is the final blocker between you and completing a high-reward set worth thousands of spins.
